Do you enjoy having a student-centered classroom but wish that it was easier to keep track of your students when they work at different paces? This toolkit was born out of my need to be more organized on the back end. Even though my students knew what to do, with everyone in different places, I used a lot of mental energy keeping track of everyone.
Organization for Students, Organization for You!
Are you a teacher who strives to meet each student where they are, but as you start to personalize it becomes more and more challenging to manage all the pieces? This is where I was, so I created a digital differentiation system of Google slides to help keep me organized.
This toolkit will help organize both you and your students. Plus, everything is color coordinated, so you can feel even more put together, and you project confidence with your students when you have everything visually cohesive.
I am a proponent of giving students flexibility in their pace, space, and place, but in practice having 150+ students at various paces can be really difficult to manage. But having a strong system (or set of systems) can really help make the process more manageable. The tools I am sharing with you for free came from my need to be more organized.
Here are the color-coded system of files:
- Kaban-style board for students to keep track of steps in the process. Once students complete a step they move their checkmark for a visual of where they are and what needs to happen next. Students can share this document with you so you can flip through your folder and see where students are.
- A Kanban board just for you where you can keep track of where each student is in the process.
- A template for mini-lessons that can be used in-person or with flipped videos
- An editable, hyperlinked slidedeck for students
